I just read the CCP email and their CEO's public kimono opening. It sounds like he really took his finger off his number.
How's the game going? How's the Corp doing?
I'm not totally over Eve...my daughter's kitten is named Firetail!

CCP has had "Head-up-Ass" syndrome for about a year.
Agony has lost it's fire since we abandoned Provi - nothing seems to motivate us much but we still run classes...
The game has had lots of bugs but will hopefully make a comeback ... ie. skills not applying after undock, rubber banding and terri-bad programming that allows rats to warp-scramble you in 0.0 when you cold warp in a 'ceptor....seriously... i've lost a Stilleto to rats (incursion rats) while sober... WTF in pureblind?
Hope things have been good with you!
(I've not been playing much either - but that is just to delay other decisions and things...)
PS- Edit yes I did get the SW reference!

I know CCP gets that is has done wrong, but at the same time, they are not really sure how to do it right. Despite all the lip service, they are still pretty sold onto Walking in Stations. The fact that they now put more effort in Flying in Space doesn't change that, so it'll remain a contentious topic. Also, I think parts of the game simply have become very stale (or have been for quite some time), so how much EVE will bounce back depends on the quality of specific improvements and how well they get picked up. Last success in my opinion was worm holes (although incursions for PVEers is probably a good improvement), and they need to get something like that or will continue to suffer.
I'm barely playing at the moment, have fallen out of love with it and many things in it quite significantly and now just in a holding pattern.

Good to hear from you Spin (and Mad o/), hope everything is going well in RL for you both.
Rose tinted glasses aside Agony is doing fine. I'm not sure what Charlie TZ is like at the moment (it went through a rough patch a few months ago, but I believe it has picked up since). Echo and Alpha are about as lively as they have ever been imo - scheduled gangs in Alpha rock about 15-20 no problem and Syndicate is good for targets. While some of the vets have 'lost their fire', I don't think this is true for the rest of the corp.
Regarding Eve in general, not much has changed really. Tyrannis, Incursion and Incarna didn't really add anything that has much effect on us (except for new bugs each patch of course). A lot of people have been very unhappy with CCP, and there's been a lot of 'the end is nigh' type talk. CCP upper management has some plans which weren't really connected to reality, and in the end the combination of CSM lobbying and a drop in subs has convinced them to change track. There's recently been a lot of positive news regarding reorganisation within the company back towards flying spaceships, and the to-do list for the winter expansion actually looks very good - lots of fixes, much-asked for balance changes, and some new technology which reduces lag by effectively slowing down the game-speed as load gets high. Of course after asking for 'more fixes and less new features' and asking for 'a patch which just focuses on fixing all the bugs' for years, a few people are now complaining that the new patch has no new features. I guess you can't please them all!
At this point it's partly wait and see what happens this winter. If the next expansion proves that CCP are acting on their recent statements, I think the future of the game is probably the most positive it's been for a while.

Oh hey, Spin. Come fly with us sometime, we'll shoot stuff together, just like old times.

Even got the old Kerzak out, now that there are small feet
at his place we don't see him. Understandable as it is.
Do miss the old crew at times, game does have it's ups and downs
but still the best out there. Pop in on TS and say hi to everyone, I
heard you did but only spoke to one person, bad boy.
Anne Bonney, a notorious pirate in her own right, told her husband, Calico Jack Bonney, as he was captured by pirate hunters,
“if you'd have fought like a man you needn't hang like a dog”.

If you will always be this wounded when bested at battle, perhaps you should practice more before stepping on the field.

It's great to hear from so many of you. The next time a 5 day teaser comes around I'll log in and see if I get the old bug back. There's still nothing out there like Eve. Every space game I try fails to live up to my experience with Agony. Right now I'm enjoying the SWTOR beta and I hope that the future holds a more EVE/SWG like space sandbox. I'm also trying out Stellar Impact. Lots of people were turned on to it by the cynicalbrit's WTF review on youtube. It's new with lots of little issues but fun.
Life at home is great. Mrs Spin is happy and the two kids (5 & 2) are fantastic. I'm still going to sea but not too many trips to the states or europe these days. That said, I will be in Charleston or Savanah in Dec.
Agony rocks. Gets some kills for me.
