As I'm sure many of you already know, Shattered Crystal is one of the biggest Eve Game Time Code resellers.

If you buy your Eve GTCs through this link, Agony will receive a small amount of the proceeds to help defray some of our expenses.  There's no extra price or anything tacked onto the GTC you'd be buying, you are simply buying the GTC as usual, except that by clicking on our link first you can help our finances. And that would be most appreciated!

For those of us that don't know, how exactly does a GTC work?

GTC is a code you can redeem in game. They become Pilot License Extensions (PLEX) you can sell in jita or apply to your account. I recommend using the ETC option, especially for giving Agony credit. You can reactive your account by converting the code directly to time on the web site.

[Update: You also have the option of reactivating using a PLEX you already have in your hangar bay or if you can get one on the market if you have the isk. They can extend your account a day or two to accomplish this. Doing anything other than purchasing the PLEX and applying it will get you flagged for never being allowed to use this GM service again. This option is for people who play by PLEX using earned isk.]

There are two ways to do this.

• Purchase the Game Time Code pack [Update: Shattered Crystal method¹ for Agony credit] (1 Code for 35 USD = two PLEX)

• Retrieve the codes by email (or via the boxed card if you got from the store)
  
• Use the "Convert ETC" option in the game menu (Hit Escape)
  
• Enter the code and you will find the PLEXes in your hangar bay
  
• Update: Alternatively, you may use the eve web site to convert the ETC to game time or to sell it. If you convert it to time, you are given the option of applying to an existing account or to a new account. See links below.

• Purchase the Pilot License Extension (this method does not give Agony Unleashed credit)

• Log on to your account on eve online. Use the account with a Jita character.
  
• Use the https://secure.eveonline.com/PLEX/ service to purchase 1 or more PLEXes.
  
• Use the "Redeem items" option in the game menu (hit escape)
  
• You can also redeem these items like any other at the account screen, I choose to do it in game to prevent accidental redemption on the wrong character in the wrong location.

You can return redeemed PLEXes to the redeem items system (by right clicking the extension in your hangar), but there was a bug that kept the item bound to the station where you redeemed them the first time so you needed to contact a GM to unbind it. I do not know if that bug persists.

Never transport PLEXes in space!!!!  This once was disallowed, but now it's not. Just don't do it.

Yeah, what Ba'al said.

Specifically, when buying from Shattered Crystal they will email you a code, which you can either redeem via your account on the Eve website, or through the "Convert ETC" option Ba'al mentioned, which in either case will create two in-game PLEXes; alternatively you can sell the code for ISK on the Eve forum (here), or apply it directly to your account (again via the Eve website) for 60 days of game time.

Edit: it seems the only way to create PLEX from the GTC they email you is to redeem it from the "Convert ETC" option in-game; through the website you can only securely sell it to another player or use it to add 60 days to your account

I followed your link to shattered crystal and it clears off the affiliate code at the end of the URL. How do I know it is actually giving credit to agony?

That's how the links work - there's no way of telling once you're on the site, however I tested the link yesterday; it tracks simple click-throughs as well as purchases, and the count when up when I used the link.

If someone lets me know once they've used the link and actually made a purchase (you can contact me privately, no need to post here if you don't want to), I can check our account with them to confirm that it has recorded the transaction correctly.

I never understood how this worked either... I remember being a little concerned about the affiliate link not registering if I browse their page for a while before making a purchase, but one of the old timers (don't remember who) told me it should still work.

Sure, there you go: I just bought a GTC using that link. I'm a new customer, so needs to be approved I guess. Dunno if that affects your log, but will confirm when I get approved.

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently shattered crystal doesn't want my money. Order Rejected out of risk of fraud. ( whaaat ? I pay with paypal, how more paranoid can they get )

Whatever. I sent them an angry mail, I'll go buy a GTC on battleclinic instead.

The click count has gone up by 20 or so since yesterday, but it hasn't tracked any more transactions yet - I'll keep an eye on it, it may take time to track (and be waiting until you've been approved, although from memory it only took them a few minutes to phone me up and ask random questions).

Lol. Rejected. I knew I couldn't trust you for some reason. Seriously though, what's up with that? I just did it and it was approved within a minute. You should see agony credit for that one. If not, it's b0rked.

I remember buying some gtc's through there back in the day. They seem to be quite paranoid though. I had to take a call from them before they let me buy stuff.

I can understand their caution, it's the kind of thing that's incredibly easy to buy using false details, and once the code is applied there's no getting it back so they'd be out of pocket.

So, I'm still unable to figure out how to use the web site to convert the etc to PLEXes for sale. Before I convert these in game I want to see if this is possible, just to have the knowledge.

Looks like I made that part up, I can only see the option to sell the ETC securely or use it to add 60 days to your account on the Eve website.

That's how I've been doing it. Carenthor suggested it could be done on the site, but I'm thinking that's unpossible. I didn't want to counter what my director says so I've been looking

Well ther is probably a reason they don't trust you. I had no issue getting approved. They asked all kinds of weird questions, though, to make sure I was who I said I was. Like Loon said, if they have a sliver of doubt, they would probably rather not have your money and sell that code to someone else, than risk being down a code and the money for it.

They are right, my paypal account is french from the beginning but I live in Sweden and Paypal interface wont let me change country so it looks weird. Stupid paypal.
