Well wanted to say awesome class learned a few things I didn´t know of and some ideas to take with me.

Things to make the class better no logi drones for logi :-) give us combat drones pretty please

And thank you Agony people who made this class happen and spent their isk on ships for us to win :-)

Great class, great roam, lots of explosions and KM whoring!

Next time don't let Xil say "Blackbirds warp to optimal on Xil" because 2 seconds later the enemy fleet warps 15km off us ;)

Excellent class, felt I could have used more time practicing staying with the anchor.

To those that stayed on, dam good work. we had 2 fights. The one at the end was cream and logi kept looses to 0. Only lose was 1 ship when we went thru. As people could see it was a fight we wouldn't win.

Anne Bonney, a notorious pirate in her own right, told her husband, Calico Jack Bonney, as he was captured by pirate hunters,
“if you'd have fought like a man you needn't hang like a dog”.

Thanks Agony for another fun class; it was fun to be the emergency logi boss.  My only trouble tonight was remembering that Caldak says "hop" instead of "jump"... I missed a few gates.

I learn something new every time I fly with you guys, so I'm looking forward to coming back.

Unfortunatelly that is a well known side effect of prolong exposure to Agony. He's been in the Corp even longer than me and is completely unable to say the j-word in any context whatsoever.

Just the other day he went to Zara to buy a woolen turtleneck hopper!

That was fun, we had a few nice fights, always nice to see some PL kills on your KB :)

Only thing I would say is that I'm not at all sure the cruiser fits (Caracal anyway) have enough tank for logis to land enough reps.

First Caracal went down pretty much instantly to the Harpys, no chance for anyone to get reps on (27 harpys & assorted Bursts/dictors will do that  ); second Caracal had 2 x LSE2 and that kept me up long enough for the logis to land reps - even then it was touch & go for 20-30 secs. No way would they have saved me with one LSE2.

I do understand why you want some ewar/etc & its a balancing act but I think the cruisers are a tad light on tank - a little more gives logis a few more seconds to react. Swings & roundabouts as always.

Thanks to all the Agony support peeps, hopefully you guys had fun too.

Oh and thanks to species who insisted on paying way over the odds for a Hyena - with that and bounties/assorted loot I think I came out about even over the night B)

Today's word is :

MORAL, adj. Conforming to a local and mutable standard of right. Having the quality of general expediency.

Thanks for this well organized class and the superb agony support.
The carebear is strong in me, so there is always something new to learn in these classes :) Shield support and kiting technics were interesting to see in practice even though the dps of the opponent fleet was higher than my ability or attention to call for repair.. maybe i have to slash myself a bit to be more intent - or fit more tank. And hopefully i have more reliable hardware next time. At this point thanks for the fast reinvites :)

That was an excellent fleet from my perspective, got pewpew right off the bat and from there things never slowed down, had multiple excellent fights, some wins some not so much. Thanks for being awesome to all that were there

lol @ BB pilots in that second PL/Snigg fight, literally right when I called for you to warp at optimals they warped in as you were landing and things went downhill for you guys real quick, stuff happens XD

The link below is to Failheap, I posted a BR for the nights festivities (Props to ROX for the write up) and if you scroll to the bottom of the page you can read a quick recap on what all happened. Thanks again for putting up with my FC'ing

After a year long break from EVE, i can say that an Agony class and roam is definately the best way to get started again!

The class section was interesting, refreshing some lost EVE knowledge and introducing me to some new concepts.

I am a firm believer of learning by doing, so i was glad to see us get straight into the action with the practicals. We zipped through that thorax and navy cruiser fleet nicely, straight away showing the strength of anchoring with its concentrated DPS.

Kind of had a bad feeling when we went for a re-match against the PL gang, as they knew our numbers and fleet composition. But i guess its the Agony spirit to hardly ever shy away from a fight! Still some valuable lessons learned from that engagement. I think Othran has a good point fitting some more buffer to negate the initial alpha strike. I was also taken down instantly by the Caracals, so no chance for the logi's to keep me alive there. However, i guess this is quite situational depending on how much alpha you are up against.

In the next battle there were some interesting tactics on display when the opposing force used bubbles as their primary form of tackle with the harpy gang sweeping past to take care of us with their high dps combined with high resists and the repping backup from the bursts. We took out quite a few of them, but they were taking us down faster than vice versa. Again the alpha was too much for the logi's to keep up with.

Was glad to stick out till the end of the roam, as i learned to fly logi ships for the first time! I was quite rusty at first, as i also had to adjust my overview and broadcast settings, while going through some hectic flying. Luckily JC gave me some good pointers and was patient enough, even though i managed to cap him out twice not setting up the chain quickly enough. My apologies JC!  :D

After that, i started to get the hang of it and together with the logi team managed to keep our losses to a minimum. Especially the last engagement was quite a thrill, keeping the skirmishers, FC Caldak and Species in his precious Cynabal in one piece. Thanks for the class & roam and see you soon for another one!

Thanks for a great class and roam!

Was fun that the "lets try the star burst maneuver" became, "enemy fleet on the other side, lets actually do the star burst!". Action from the start :)

And this is after one of the later fights, 2% (25hp) left of structure... Superb work by my fellow logi pilots!

I had a ball, and learnt a lot about my own (lack of) situational awareness when I got primaried and only realised it when dmg started landing and my tank vapourized before logi could land reps on me. I have to admit the flashing of the reds/yellows in my overview obscures the fact that I'm getting yellow boxed until it's too late. I made a personal note to pay more attention.... and sure enough I missed it again!

I did high-5 myself afterwards though for setting up hotkeys for broadcasts otherwise I would've wiped a few more times during the evening. So take that as an agree for me that the tanks on the caracal's didn't take the alpha very well.... be that as it may, logi still did excellent work keeping us alive, and you can't anticipate the size or nature of the fights we'll get in to. Sometimes the enemy just have you beat.

I don't know whether this is because past classes were so good, or the articles were so good, or whether JC's instruction was so good, or whether the students are just getting to "that level"... I agree the lack of questions during the lecture was telling. Everyone was informed, set up, good to go. The only thing we really covered "in class" only was anchoring, and that as a kind of afterthought before we hit the roam.

Once again even though the starburst (Am I mistaken or did we do this in a class before? I'm sure we did at some point...) exercise turned into a live exercise very quickly, I'm amazed by the level of students that came to this class + roam: Went off without a hitch and if I'm not mistaken not a single loss during a maneuvre we didn't even get to really try out.

Logi were on the ball, at one point the harpy gang primaried me, I managed to bcast in time and reps landed before I even went to 1/2 shields. I dunno who you were as I was preoccupied, but very good work. Second time I was alpha'd, not so lucky, however it seems that was exactly the point at which they started burning through our reps, just as my loss was posted to fleet others also started pouring in.

Critiques: I wasn't very sure you guys were going to discuss maneuvering for the DPS dudes but luckily it was covered just as we undocked (anchoring). I do feel this is one way of doing it to keep a gang of students going, but it doesn't tell the class much about what you're doing and why you're doing it, and sure enough the questions about it did come. I would've liked to see this more covered in the lecture than it being a re-hash of what we'd all (very clearly) read in the reading material.

The gang was set up as the lecture progressed, with logi/ewar/dps roles apparently being assigned by Xil. That's cool, and got us set up and ready for the roam. However, I felt that even though I had all 3 types of ship fitted out, I was reluctant to change roles on re-ship and mix up the fleet that had so lovingly been put together. As such I didn't actually go out and do any logistics or ewar. I feel this is inevitable with a class this size, esp because you only need a couple of logi/ewar going.

So since a lot of "the point" of this class was logistics, *I* would've prefered a lot less time lecturing (we can read, as evidenced) and more time in space with everyone getting a chance to practise the different roles, get a feel for how we'll be maneuvering. The idea seems to do this in lowsec as we head out to roam, but we can't all be logi at that point and can't all get to fly the all the roles.

These are minor points though, excellent, excellent class overall. Most fun I've had in eve for a while (carebearing with some noobs atm), good fights, excellent lecture/reading material, o7 all agony pilots well done on the roam, and another o7 to fellow students you were awesome.

I had a great time in the class, expertly run and FC'd...thanks :) Amazing that we ran into a fleet that early. I have been out of eve for a while, so I needed to get the rust off. I think FreqWency covered my only criticism, I would have liked to have a go at  logistics, seems like that is the most intensive... I still have what I should do in my head, but always different in practice. Just some time in a mock battle or something so I can gauge how, when and where to start reps etc would go a long way.

With that said, once things get going, I always have fun and feel confident in all Agony pilots,  you guys make this game fun!

Thanks again

This is excellent feedback. The first class was really to test the waters, and now that it's Trial by Fire is completed we can focus on incorporating more hands on lessons for future classes. The goal is to have more practical than lecture. :)

Thanks for running the calls and the roam in particular. Was very insightful to see proper (read sizable) skirmish (and harpy) fleets in action. Learned a lot about fleet organization and movement. Should do this again some time.

Edit: A short part of the second Sniggwaffe fight is featured in this video (starts around 7 min time mark), advertised on EN24.

It's all good, fwiw this was my favourite agony course by far. It's because you guys are trying to develop this course that my comments are so exhaustive... hoping some constructive feedback can make it even betterer. I'll definitely be x'ing up as alumni.

Personally for me situations when the fleet encountered big enemy fleets or tens of ships to attack I noticed it takes a bit of time to learn to keep the focus who are targets and which to select thou FC reports them. When encountering small fleets or only couple of targets, it was much easier to keep focus. I think this is phychological thing to get used to and by having more exercises it becomes easier.

For the future it could be interesting to have Advanced class extensions to the core class in each levels. Like pvp-advanced-intermediate in which we could have extended exercise and for example with T2 ships and tactics to use them.
